SCG Logistics Management has entered into a joint venture agreement with Nichirei Logistics Group Inc. to provide temperature-controlled logistics services in Thailand. SCG Logistics Management’s 51% ownership is valued at 575 million Baht, with full operations expected in Q3/14.
Mr. Kan Trakulhoon, President and CEO of SCG announced that SCG Logistics Management Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Nichirei Logistics Group Inc. to provide temperature-controlled logistics services in Thailand. SCG Logistics Management’s 51% ownership is valued at 575 million Baht, with full operations expected in Q3/14.
“Clients of temperature-controlled logistics services are mainly the food and beverage sectors, and the demand growth rate of these sectors is expected to remain at the double digit level over the foreseeable period. The growth is driven by the change in consumer purchasing behavior and the country’s export growth of premium-quality food. With expert partnership between the leading temperature control logistics service provider from Japan and the largest network of logistics carriers in Thailand, the joint venture company will offer the premium quality of temperature-controlled logistics, including transportation and warehousing, to leading domestic and multi-national food and beverage companies in Thailand.” Mr. Kan said.
SCG Logistics Management commenced operations in 1999. In 2012, it registered sales of 12,852 million Baht, with total assets of 2,617 million Baht, and currently has a total of 528 staffs.
