PTTEP and partners discovered new gas field in Mozambique

Bangkok--19 Apr--PTTEP Mr. Tevin Vongvanich, President and CEO of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited or PTTEP, is pleased to announce the discovery of Orca-1 exploration well which was drilled to final depth in early April in Rovuma Offshore Area 1, Mozambique. The Orca-1 exploration well was drilled to a total depth of approximately 4,996 meters, in water depths of approximately 1,061 meters, which encountered approximately 190 net feet (58 meters) of natural gas pay in a Paleocene fan system fully contained within the block. The operator is designing an initial two-well appraisal program to define the areal extent of the Orca field, which will commence immediately after drilling our Linguado and Espadarte exploration wells. The joint venture partners of Rovuma Offshore Area 1 comprises of PTTEP with 8.5% interest, Anardarko, (the operator) with 36.5% interest, Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltd with 20% interest, BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V. with 10% interest, Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 Ltd with 10% interest and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonoestos, ep’s (ENH) with 15% interest.
