Visa has brought welcome relief from the hot summer sun to street vendors and brightened up Bangkok’s popular Prathumwan district with a donation of 1,500 brand new Visa umbrellas.
Visa gave the umbrellas free of charge as part of the “Visa Zone” project in an effort to brighten up street vendors’ umbrellas along the historic shopping district, which is a major draw for retail fanatics and tourists alike.
As part of its community support efforts, Visa partnered with the local municipality to promote the Prathumwan district as a popular destination for visitors, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all shoppers who go there. The Visa Zone project donation will help transform street vendor stalls and municipal booths with a new look, giving the area a fresh feel.
During the donation ceremony, Visa Country Manager for Myanmar and Thailand, Somboon Krobteeranon, commented: “It is our pleasure to show our support and collaboration with the Prathumwan District and the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association by donating the Visa umbrellas. As Bangkok residents, we take pride in promoting the area as a retail destination — and the heart of Bangkok — for Visa cardholders, and are delighted to help freshen the atmosphere for all visitors.”
With bright smiles, the street vendors enthusiastically set up the Visa umbrellas, replacing their existing ones which have been damaged due to weather and longtime usage. Visa cardholders can enjoy premier shopping in Prathumwan, one of Thailand’s most popular shopping areas for international visitors and locals alike.
