Bangkok--30 Apr--GHC Asia Ltd.
Her Holiness Shinso Ito (4th from right), the Head of Shinnyo-en, a Japanese Buddhist denomination, recently led an unprecedented Prayer Ceremony for global peace and harmony with 1,500 Shinnyo-en practitioners from around the world together with revered Thai monks of The Sangha Supreme Council at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen district. In commemorating this special occasion, Her Holiness Shinso Ito and the Most Venerable Somdet Phra Maha Ratchamangkhlachan (2nd from left), Chief Abbot of Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen district, exchanged Buddha images as tokens of their long-standing friendship.
HE Sansanee Nakpong (3rd from left), Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, gave the opening remarks at the Prayer Ceremony at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen district. This marks the first time that a female head priest of a Mahayana Buddhist order has conducted such a ritual at a Theravada Buddhist temple in Thailand. Her Holiness Shinso Ito is one of the few women to be granted the title of diasojo, the highest priestly rank in Japanese Buddhism. The ceremony demonstrated the great respect and friendship between these two major schools of Buddhism.
