Bangkok--29 May--KSecurities
Encouraging more than 10,000 new investors to enter the stock market each year, Kasikorn Securities and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) are organizing the “KS The Young Turk Investor Season 4” project for investors in Bangkok and four other major provinces, amid the present stock market rally. The top three winners of each province will be given cash in an amount equal to the profits earned from their portfolio. KSecurities aims to see at least 9,000 entrants in total, together with the “KS Young Turk Investor Celebrity Episode”, a special stock investment training course for celebrities.
According to Kasikorn Securities Executive Chairman Mr. Thiti Tantikulanan, KSecurities has joined forces with the SET in presenting “KS The Young Turk Investor Season 4” to offer investment knowledge and gain more than 10,000 new stock investors every year, placing emphasis on the company’s leadership in securities business for the new generation. Amid the present stock market boom, the project is arranged under the concept of “New Generation: Let Your Money Work for You”, promoting efficient portfolio management with rational decision-making among young investors.
This year, applications are being accepted in five provinces, namely Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, and Songkhla (Amphoe Hat Yai). Entrants must go through an intensive screening process including application form, qualification, examination and interview. The 40 selected investors in each province, or 200 persons nationwide, will each receive 50,000 Baht to start their investment in the stock market through their securities trading account, while they will be offered a free training course with instruction from stock experts. The top three investors from each province will win cash in an amount equal to the profits earned from their portfolio.
Eligible applicants must be at least 20 years old with Thai nationality and residence in Thailand, and must never have held a stock trading account with any securities company. If they used to attend a stock investment course, their attendance rate must be at least 80 percent of total class duration. Applications are being accepted from today until July 22 for Bangkok, July 31 for Khon Kaen, August 31 for Chiang Mai, September 20 for Chon Buri and September 30 for Hat Yai. Interested persons can apply for the project through www.ksyoungturk.com and www.facebook.com/ksyoungturk. The company targets at least 9,000 applicants nationwide participating in this year’s project.
Mr. Thiti added that apart from the stock trading competition and training course offered to new investors, KSecurities places significance on the “Every Lifestyle is an Investment” concept by adding a special course named “KS Young Turk Investor Celebrity Episode”. The special course is offered for celebrities in diverse fields including actors/actresses, singers, sport stars, bloggers, writers and other media figures who are high-income earners but have no interest in stock investment due to time and knowledge constraints, as well as risk concerns. The one-day intensive course provides basic knowledge in stock investment, asset allocation, and a stock trading workshop, with the competition result conclusion. This is aimed at giving participants the idea that stock investment is simple for everyone. Participating celebrities include Mr. Vorarit Fuengarom (Nott), Mr. Akarat Nitibohon (Kong), Mr. Supoj Janjaroen (Lift), and Ms. Kemisa Boonyakiate.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand President Charamporn Jotikasthira said the SET is supporting the KS The Young Turk Investor project for a fourth year, given the project’s nurturing of stock investment for the new generation in terms of knowledge and good investment principles, providing a way to increase investors’ skills. Therefore, the project’s objectives are in accordance with the SET’s plan to expand the investor base for sustainable and stable growth in the Thai capital market.
