ICBC (Thai) Leasing Company Limited has approved credit for aircraft financing for ‘Thai AirAsia’ or TAA, valued at 2.1 billion THB for the expansion of its fleet to accommodate the ever growing low-cost travel industry. Mr. Ong-ard Vorachattarn, President of ICBC (Thai) Leasing Company Limited remarked that the approval of credit for aircraft financing for TAA valued at 2.1 billion THB was for the acquisition of 2 more Airbus A320s for its fleet. TAA has plans to increase flight frequencies, add routes and accommodate a growing number of travelers as tourism in the ASEAN region has been spurred by its expanding economy. Thailand’s low-cost air travel business segment has also been significantly developing over the past 4-5 years.

Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia remarked that ICBC (Thai) Company Limited’s approval of credit for aircraft financing for Thai AirAsia allowed it to, through a Financial Lease, acquire its second Sharklet wingtip equipped Airbus A320, and bring its fleet to 29 aircraft. The latest model Airbus A320, which is both fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, has already been received at a handover ceremony and has begun service.
The approval on credit for aircraft financing was a success for both Thai AirAsia and ICBC (Thai) Leasing Company Limited. Thai AirAsia plans to continue to acquire more aircraft for its fleet and expand its network both domestically and internationally.
