Bangkok--31 May--The Sukosol, Bangkok The Sukosol and Thailand Guitar Society are once again proud to present South-East Asia’s finest assembly of international guitar players, makers and enthusiasts. Now in its seventh illustrious year, the Asia International Guitar Festival & Competition is surely the biggest and most vibrant event for classical guitar aficionados and music lovers in the region. This year’s agenda includes master classes, guitar exhibits, competitions and concerts by acclaimed world-class musicians hailing from around the globe. A varied program sees four days of activities, each day culminating in a concert by one or more celebrated guitar maestros. Opening night will feature a “Balkan” medley by Leon Koudelak, Apichai Chantanakajornfung, Woratep Rattana-umpawan, Sakol Siripipattanakul and Maria Duo. Days two and three will see the talented Sachiko Miyashita and Admir Doci perform, along with the Wong-Kojorn Guitar Quarter and Ekachai Jearakul. The festival will then conclude on a very high note, with a solo concert by the world renowned player Marco Tamayo. Other highlight performances include those by the Wong-Kojorn Guitar Quarter from Thailand and the internationally acclaimed Canadian-German Amadeus Guitar Duo. The event will also feature a guitar competition open to all, with the winner receiving a free guitar, case, string sets, certificate and performance rights at four prestigious events. Other internationally-acclaimed guests include Marco Tamayo (Cuba), Sachiko Miyashita (Japan), Admir Do?i (Albania), Lirza Zaloshnja (Albania), Leon Koudelak (Swiss/Czech), Ekachai Jearakul (Thailand), Monching Carpio (Philippines), Shinobu Sugawara (Japan), Maria Duo (Japan), Woratep Rattana-umpawan (Thailand),Sakol Siripipattanakul (Thailand), Apichai Chantanakajornfung (Thailand), Carsten Linck (Germany) and Stefanie Diclas (Philippines). Top luthiers include Yuichi Imai (Japan), Karl Heinz Roemmich (Germany), Young Seo (Korea), Hanief Palopo (Indonesia), Sumio Kurosawa (Japan), Narongsak Visesnut (Thailand), Wiroon Song-Bundit (Thailand) and Pansaeng Chantarangkul (Thailand). All concerts are performed in The Sukosol’s Rattanakosin Lounge. Concert tickets are Bht 600 for adults and Bht 400 for students (with valid I.D.), inclusive of coffee break.
