Bangkok--7 Jun--Hua Chang Heritage Hotel
Hua Chang Heritage Hotel unveils a food and drink venue exemplifying the many ways in which Thailand’s cuisine reflects the country’s essence. At Miss Siam restaurant, guests enjoy Thai recipes passed down through the generations. Indeed, defining aspects of Thai culture unfold during every meal.
In Old Siam of past centuries, a lady’s cooking skill was essential to her allure. Hence the Thai proverb, ‘Cooking works like a charm’. And because Siamese ladies were blessed with a tropical clime that yielded so much from land, river and sea, they were afforded abundant ingredients to create new and intriguing dishes for husband and family.
Now all can experience the same bountiful and sophisticated cookery for which Thailand is renowned at Miss Siam.
Creating that experience is Executive Chef Pairos Prapairak. His menu draws from Thailand’s time-honored recipes encompassing not only home-cooked comforts but also dishes served during special occasions, in addition to a number of regional specialties. Chef Pairos’ artistry is based on the fundamentals of Thai cuisine, vital among them a skilful selection and combination of ingredients, notably fresh herbs for both their flavor and health benefits.
An all-day restaurant serving breakfast, lunch/brunch and dinner, Miss Siam features Thai and international buffets, live cooking station and ? la carte menu offering special seasonal dishes. Menu highlights include signature crispy deep-fried prawn wrapped with pancake rolls and Thai spicy shrimp paste dip with fried mackerel. Guests likewise will delight in all flavors essential to Thai cooking — spicy, salty, sweet, sour and bitter — in dishes such as chef’s special mixed style chicken, pork and beef satay; spicy grilled beef sirloin salad with fresh herbs and grapes; lamb curry with longan; and deep-fried sea bass topped with sweet chili sauce. Traditional Thai desserts include Thai fresh fruits of the season in syrup, sweet sticky rice with mango, and chilled water chestnut in grenadine syrup.
The restaurant’s setting provides Rattanakosin-era splendor amid an interior design merging Thai and European elegance. Decorative elements include ceiling beams reminiscent of traditional teak homes yet in gleaming white and mirror wall bearing a striking lotus flower image. Seating capacity is 50 guests in the restaurant’s main dining area. Windows look out to the hotel’s lovely tropical garden and free-form swimming pool, around which guests also can choose to enjoy their meal in an outdoor dining area holding up to 40 people for specially arranged occasions.
The exalted, centuries-old traditions of Thai cuisine live on at Miss Siam, where guests today are certain to be enchanted.
