Interface, the global leader in commercial modular flooring solutions, announced the introduction of Flatweave collection to the Asian markets from its manufacturing facility in Chonburi. Inspired by the need of minimalist and sustainable interiors, the collection offers an alternative texture that fills the gap between hard and soft floors through the cutting-edge tufting technology unique to the company.
Interface’s Flatweave collection has been highly successful in Europe for its appearance of a firm floor with softness and visual texture of a carpet. It helps minimize acoustic issue often faced by an open plan spaces and comfortable underfoot. It meets demands of designers who want to introduce stylish, simplified surface, while still creating an inspiring and emotive space full of energy.
“To offer traditional hard floor users a softer alternative without compromising on performance, Interface worked for years to perfect micro tufting techniques and develop a uniquely new technology, which is now specific to Flatweave and Interface.” said Mr. Robin Hales, Interface’s Vice President of Product Development, Asia Pacific. “The outcome is a flatter, firmer, and more even finish similar to a woven textile — a texture that has never before been introduced as carpet tiles.”
Flatweave tufting technology is known for its outstanding performance especially in high traffic areas. Similar to other Interface carpet collections, Flatweave passed the stringent testing methods, have the same stain resistance and anti-microbial qualities, and comes with 15 years warrantee. It is an ideal flooring solution for hotels, hospitals, schools, museums, offices, and retail premises.
The collection draws inspiration from master industrial futurist, Mies van der Rohe, whose principles are known today as the leading and most influential exponent of the refined glass-and-steel architecture.
“Our designs apply to Van der Rohe’s Less is More concept to create a sense of structured order, balanced against a freely flowing space — much like the simplicity of style found in many of his most famous buildings. Uniting the needs of today with the needs of tomorrow, Flatweave allows designers to apply creative nesting techniques and develop delineated areas through a mix of patterns and elements. Under Flatweave collection are two design groups; ‘Fusion’ that uses contrasting colours in combination to create a subtle linear pattern, and ‘Straightforward’ which harnesses ascending patterns that shift the weight of colour from one to the other.
The collection also uses less yarn and high percentage of recycled materials to lead the world in Interface’s commitments to sustainability.
