Bangkok Prep student attends the 2013 Cannes International Film FestivalThe only Thai youngster walks down the red carpet
Twelve-year-old Aaron Pansringarm, a Y8 student at Bangkok Prep International School, was the only Thai youngster who attended the recent 2013 Cannes International Film Festival in France.
Aaron accompanied his father, actor Vithaya Pansringarm and his mother, Fay Pansringarm, to attend the world premiere of Only God Forgives, directed by Nicholas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling, Kristen Scott Thomas and Vithaya. The film opens in Thailand on July 18th.
Aaron said he was very excited to experience the glamorous atmosphere and star-studded gathering at this annual film festival.
“I walked along the red carpet taking photos of the entire event. It was amazing. It was like a sea of flashing lights from the cameras. I walked up the stairs of the Palais des Festivals convention center in Cannes and into the theatre. It was strange to see my dad on such a large screen in front of so many people,” said Aaron.
“I liked the soundtrack of the movie and my dad even sang some of the songs. The movie was pretty violent but I liked it because my father was giving some very evil people what they deserved! The other actors were very good too. I liked the storyline and overall really enjoyed the film,” Aaron added.
Aaron said that when the movie ended, there was a moment of silence before the applause began.
“There were 2800 people standing, cheering and flashing their cameras.
“At the closing ceremony of the festival, I saw Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman and Ang Lee. My dad’s movie didn’t win any prizes but it was top of the box office in France that week. There has been a lot of controversy among the critics. They seem to either love it or hate it. As the director Nicholas said to me, that’s what you want when you create art!” said Aaron.
