Bangkok--8 Jul--Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre
"The Classic and the Cool" , a concert by the Tamnak Prathom Harp Ensemble will be held at the Siam Society Auditorium on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 8 p.m. when the harps will be teamed with the cool sounds of the saxophone and the violin.
The two guest artists are Paye, Thaweewet Srinarong of the Vietrio fame and saxophonist Pey, Nattapon Fuangaugsorn.
Programme feature music by Dave Brubeck, Gershwin, Piazzolla as well as classic harp repertoire and ends with the medley of Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story by Jakez Francois.
To give stage to young talents and in anticipation of the ASEAN Economic Commission-- the Tamnak Prathom Harp Centre is joining hands with the Rave Harpers of Singapore by inviting one of their star students, Lee Yun Chai, to present the "classic" side of the concert by playing the classic of classics, Marcel Grandjany's "Rhapsodie", Pearl Chertok's "Ten Past Two and Harpicide Midnight" and La Vida Breve by Manuel de Falla.
Yun Chai, 14, has appeared in many concerts and international competitions and is the first young harp student of this region to have won a scholarship in Harp Studies at the Juilliard's Junior Music School.
