RFID Tags consist of ‘HF Tags’ for short read-range and ‘UHF Tags’ for Long Read-range, greater than 3-4 meters. The UHF Tags are expected to be widely used in distribution of goods, inventory management of retail businesses. They will replace both 1D and 2D barcodes system because RFID Tags can automatically search and store data and track merchandises more effectively.
Currently, RFID Tags are used in various Retail Applications such as Apparel Stores, Electronic Stores and Department Stores. World-class department stores and Supermarkets chains such as Walmart, Mark & Spencer have used millions of RFID Tags every year to help manage inventory, reduce out-of-stocks and complete cycle faster. In addition, RFID Tags are also used in Transportation and Travel industries by leading international airports such as Hong Kong Airport, San Francisco and Las Vegas Airports for Luggage Tracking applications. Suvannabhumi Airport is expected to adopt this system in the near future. Meanwhile, the Expressway Authority of Thailand uses them for ‘EASY PASS’ Access Cards. Moreover, the tags are also used in Healthcare for prescriptions in pharmacies and hospitals.
