Makro reinforce its vision to support food professional members, and to share best practices among hotel, restaurant and catering food entrepreneurs (HoReCa), hosting the “Makro HoReCa2013” under the concept of “Furthering the Business to Welcome ASEAN Partners.” The Makro HoreCa 2013 will take place from October 31st to November 3rd, 2013 during 10.00am - 07.00pm, at Hall 2-3 Impact MuangThong Thani, Bangkok.
The event aims to encourage Makro HoReCa; Hotel, Restaurant and Catering, members and entrepreneurs, both SMEs and corporate, to adapt the knowledge and inspiration gained from this event to further improve their business. This will ensure their readiness for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in late 2015.
Mrs. Suchada Ithijarukul, Chief Executive Officer of Siam Makro, revealed that “Since we started our business 24 years ago, Makro has been the first and only, cash and carry wholesale centre for professional business operators. Then, and now, we support our members including food business entrepreneurs and small retailers by providing high quality products at affordable prices. We have also consistently introduced programs to help them build sustainable business growth.
“Makro HoReCa” is one our biggest initiatives. Since it was launched in 2005, aimed to add knowledge and inspire Makro HoReCa members, to adapt the knowledge and inspiration gained from this event to further improve their business. The event also provides a platform for introducing the participating products or services at the event.”
Mrs Siriporn Dechsingha, Chairman of Makro HoReCa 2013 Committee said that “As Thailand prepares for the formation of the Asean Economic Community in 2015, it’s relevant and timely that the Makro HoReCa 2013” will be organized under the concept of “Furthering the Business to Welcome ASEAN Partners”. The event provides an opportunity for food entrepreneurs to learn new ideas to enhance their readiness in a competitive environment that will offer new opportunities.
“The four-day event features a wide variety of activities, all of which will be useful for food business owners who want to continually develop their business skill, adopt new techniques to increase their revenue and meet other entrepreneurs. There will be cooking demonstrations showcasing new techniques, seminars and workshops where experts will share tips, and also the international standard cooking competitions. Makro HoReCa 2013 is designed to help Thai food industry players raise standards to be more competitive regionally and globally.
“Additionally, it will include a showcase of innovative products from almost 300 food and HoReCa equipment manufacturers and distributors.”
Some of the best learning opportunities will be presentations from professional chefs and renowned restaurant entrepreneurs including celebrity chef, Ik Ban Boriboon who will host an “ASEAN Indie Dish” cooking demonstration. Other standout presentation include: tips on “ASEAN Fusion As You Like” by actor Chakrit Yamnarm; “The Charm of Authentic Thai snacks” by Tak Napatsaran and Pok Piyathida; “Len Sen,” a noodle decoration technique by
Sutthipong “Khap” Suriya; and also the ASEAN cultural sharing on “Asean Food Trip Diary,” by actor “Job” Nithi Samutkhojorn; and “Experiencing Food Culture of ASEAN countries” by Nawat Issarakraisri; together with the “Asean Food Remix” cooking demonstration by actor Phol Tantasatien; and a “Special Dish” cooking demonstration by chef Fang, Nattaphong Norchuweth.
There will also be seminars covering many intriguing and practical topics for business operators such as the “Perspective and Impact of AEC to Thai Restaurant Owners;” “New Opportunities for Processed Food Manufacturers in Asean;” “Easy Steps to start POS in your Business,” and workshops including “A Delectable Crepe to Welcome AEC”, “How to Create a Signature AEC Cocktail;” “How to Add Value With a Bakery oven-free,” and “Create a Super Cool Menu to Welcome Asean Customers.”
One of the interesting activity at this event is the “Makro HoReCa Challenge 2013” - the premier cooking competition that attracts top-class chefs nationwide. They will compete to win trophies presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali, as well as cash prizes totaling over one million baht in three categories: Thai cuisine, International cuisine and ASEAN cuisine. The highest score winner will represent Thailand at Food&Hotel Asia 2014 (FHA) — the largest international food & hospitality show in Asia, to be held in Singapore.“The seven years of Makro HoReCa success, with positive feedback from our members and HoReCa entrepreneurs, together with the year-on-year growth of participant numbers, we expect more than 50,000 visitors at Makro HoReCa this year.
