AIT’s PMBF Program celebrates 19 new graduates from Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar banking sectors

Bangkok--20 Dec--Asian Institute of Technology As senior Asian bankers, diplomats and special dignitaries looked on, nineteen new graduates of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)’s Professional Master’s in Banking and Finance (PMBF) Program for 2013 were recognized for their achievements at a blue-ribbon Completion Ceremony in downtown Bangkok on December 7, 2013. Following nine months of intensive study at AIT, ten Bangladeshi nationals, along with seven students from Bhutan and two from Myanmar received special certificates of completion from AIT Interim President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, in addition to their Professional Master’s degrees conferred at the 120th AIT Graduation Ceremony on 17 December 2013. The ceremony marked the third graduating class of the PMBF, pushing the total number of graduates to 66, including 46 bankers from Bangladesh Bank and 18 from the Bank of Bhutan. All students of the program are full-time mid-level banking professionals studying while on extended leave from their jobs. The PMBF, which is delivered through a collaboration by the AIT School of Management and AIT Extension, is a prime example of AIT’s responsiveness to meet the needs of countries in the region, Prof. Worsak remarked. “AIT looks forward to further strengthening its relationships with our partners in the banking and financial sectors of Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar to address their human resources needs,” he said. The event was also attended by Mr. Karma W. Penjor, Chairman, Bank of Bhutan Ltd. and Mr. Md. Ahsah Ullah, Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank, who gave the remarks to the graduates.
