Bangkok--19 Feb--The Okura Prestige Bangkok
Yamazato, the signature Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, celebrates the historic Japanese Girls’ Festival with special set lunch and dinner menus created by legendary Master Chef Shigaru Hagiwara.
The Festival dates back to the Heian Period in Japan (794 to 1185 AD) when Hina dolls were believed to possess the power to capture evil spirits. In these mediaeval times it was known as Hina-matsuri or Japanese Doll Festival. Today, the Festival matches the desire of every young girl in Japan to be happy and successful in life by enjoying traditional Japanese cuisine.
The set lunch menu is priced at Baht 800. The five course dinner, plus rice and dessert, is priced at Baht 3,000. These special menus, available at Yamazato from 22 February 2014 until 3 March 2014, have been created by Hagiwara-san in honour of all daughters in Japan and overseas.
Menu highlights include Hina Sushi that features colourful, tasty and nutritious ingredients to reflect the aspirations of every young girl for a healthy and successful life. Chef Hagiwara has also created special Sakura Mochi rice cakes filled with sweet bean paste and wrapped in cherry leaves that symbolise the Sakura season in Japan every Spring.
Yamazato is also displaying traditional Hina dolls in traditional costume.
Yamazato is located on the 24th Floor of The Okura Prestige Bangkok. Open daily for lunch and dinner from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Reservations are recommended, please call 02 687 9000 or email
