Volvo Group kicks off Volvo FuelWatch Competition Season 5
- The winner will receive cash award of 50,000 baht with the chance to join Volvo Trucks FuelWatch World Final 2014 in Sweden
- The last day for application will be May 26, 2014
Volvo Group (Thailand) Company Limited, the assembler and sole distributor of Swedish-made Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses, has kicked off the fifth Volvo FuelWatch Competition 2014 which is fuel saving competition for Volvo heavy duty truck to find the best driver to be Thailand’s representative joining the world final round in Sweden.
Mr. Jacques Michel, President of Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd, said the FuelWatch Competition was annual event of Volvo Group to find the country’s best driver who had driving disciplin encouraging the truck owner to enjoy lower fuel consumption which would help lower petrol bill as well as to help the glob’s environment. The company has organized the fuel save competition for five consecutive years, including this year.
Under the competition rules, a Volvo Trucks customer will be able to assign only one driver to join the competition and must have the Volvo FM or the Volvo FH in its fleet. The competition will be divided into two rounds – the qualifying round and the final round.
The qualifing round will be set in six regions, including Samut Prakan, Rayong, Sara Buri, Khon Khaen, Tak and Surat Thani. The company will provide the Volvo Trucks model FM and FH Series while the candidates will have to pass at least 85% score of writhen examination for qualify to the driving competition.
However, the best 24 fuel-comsumption drivers, four from each region, will join the final round on the August 16th, 2014. The fuel consumption from the rounds of qualify and final will be measured by Dynafleet and the competition route will be the daily used road.
”I’m very confident that our competition in this year will get good response as usual because we have amended the rules and regulations of the competition every year. Especially in this year, the winner from Thailand and other countries in Asia will be given the right to join the Volvo Trucks FuelWatch World Final 2014 in Sweden, unlike the previouse year when the winners would have to be selected from the Asia Pacific Round in Australia first,” said Mr. Micheal.
Meanwhile, the first winner from Thailand will receive a 50,000-baht cash award in addition to the right for two person joining the world final round in Sweden, worth 200,000 baht, while the company of the winner will be given a 150,000-baht spare part voucher. The second winner will receive a 30,000-baht cash award and 50,000 baht spare part voucher for the company while the 3rd winner will receive a 10,000-baht cash award and 30,000 baht spare part voucher for the company.
However, the companies of the 24 qualifiers will get 120 litres of lubricating oil, worth 15,000 baht.
