THAI Board of Directors Meeting Results

Bangkok--24 Jun--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) held its Board of Directors Meeting, chaired by Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, THAI’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, with the following results. 1. Operating Results for May 2014 The THAI Board of Directors acknowledged the Company’s operating performance for May 2014, amidst the ongoing political protest in May which continues to effect tourists’ decision to travel to Thailand. Several countries have issued travel warnings on Thailand and have advised their citizens to postpone or reschedule travel plans. These travel warnings have caused tourist arrivals to decrease by 10.6 percent as compared to the same month last year. In May 2014, (Not including flight of THAI Smile Airways Company Limited operated under the “WE” airline code) the Company’s Available Seat-Kilometer (ASK) for the entire system decreased 6.8 percent compared to the same month last year. Revenue Passenger-Kilometer (RPK) was lower than last year by 16.1 percent, resulting in a system-wide cabin factor of 59.8 percent which was lower than last year’s 66.4 percent. However, when including domestic routes operated under the airline code “WE” the Available Seat-Kilometer (ASK) including that of THAI Smile decreased 5.1 percent compared to the same month last year. Revenue Passenger-Kilometer (RPK) was lower than last year by 14.6 percent, resulting in a system-wide cabin factor of 59.8 percent. The cabin factor on regional routes decreased from 71.2 percent to 64.3 percent and on international routes decreased from 61.3 percent to 55.2 percent and on domestic routes decreased from 72.6 percent to 61.2 percent. For the Company’s Cargo and Commercial Mail, revenue freight ton-kilometer (RFTK) increased last year by 2.2 percent. Available dead ton-kilometer (ADTK) decreased 3.8 percent compared to last year which resulted in a freight load factor including aircraft belly and freighter averaging 55.4 percent, which was higher than last year’s 52.1 percent. 2. Chairman Tenders Resignation The Board of Directors held a discussion concerning the Chairman’s decision to tender his resignation from the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors but the Board of Directors requested Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong to remain THAI’s Chairman.
