Volvo Trucks seals a 63-truck deal with Pak Nam Po Transport
- The first 23 of 63 trucks will be delivered showing customer confidence since it was introduced in the middle of this year
- The order is considered as the first order to deliver in Thailand
Volvo Group (Thailand) Company Limited, the sole distributor of Volvo Trucks in Thailand, has received the first order of the latest truck model FH from Pak Nam Po Transport Company Limited, a leading petroleum carrier in Indochina.
Mr. Jacques Michel, President of Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd, said the 63-truck order was FH model, the latest introduced model in Thailand in the middle of this year, and the first 23 trucks will be delivered to customer before the year end.
The Volvo FH is equipped with 13 liter engine producing 440 hps and intelligent I-Shift transmission suitable for long haul transport of petroleum and chemical. The truck is also equipped with Dynafleet, a telematics-based fleet management system, which makes it possible for fleet owners to track fuel efficiency and driver behavior in real time, so timely adjustments can be made to increase efficiency and inculcate safe driving habits.
“Pak Nam Po Transport is considered as the first customer for the new FH and there’re many customers who are interested in this new product. This is because we have developed many new feathers for the new truck range, especially in safety and fuel consumption, encouraging many customers are interested in our new truck range,” said Mr. Michel.
The contract does include a service agreement gold package for five years which Pak Nam Po Transport will be able to control its operating cost as it will not be necessary to worry about the maintenance cost during the five years period.
Volvo has invested more than US$3 billion and 14 million engineering hours in product development alone. And just to make perfectly sure of the outcome, we have tested the vehicles for 21 million kilometers. Together with comprehensive service offerings, the new Volvo truck range will deliver outstanding transport solutions to our customers.
Meanwhile, Mr. Phonchai Kitosot, Managing Director of Pak Nam Po Transport, said the 63 new Volvo Trucks would strengthen its service, especially in petroleum transportation business as a huge demand from petroleum firms being placed to Pak Nam Po Transport. Now the company has 100 trucks in its petroleum transportation fleet in service -line.
“We also have other type of transport offering to the customers, including agriculture transport between the kingdom to China, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. So the new Volvo Trucks being added into our fleet will help us to offer higher efficiency service to our clients” said Mr. Phonchai.
Mr. Phonchai confirmed that Volvo Trucks was accepted by the clients, in term of truck quality and after sales service in many countries in this region encouraging Pak Nam Po Transport to be confident and placing new Volvo Trucks order added into the fleet.
Mr. Phonchai added that the new Volvo Trucks being added into the fleet would support the company’s goal to be the leading logistic provider and the company had been in a process to introduce European Agreement Concerning. The International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) which was a standard agreement among petroleum and chemical transportation providers in Europe. Under the European standard, the trucks will have to be equipped with airbag protection and electronic stability program of ESP (pls. check) as well as the intelligent gear box I-Shift which offers the drivers to drive safely with high power engine and environmental friendly. All of the mentioned items are already equipped in the new Volvo Trucks FH.
Mr. Michel noted that Pak Nam Po Transport was considered as one of Volvo Trucks’ VIP customers as the company had used Volvo Truck for a long time and now it had 63 Volvo Trucks in its 100-truck fleet. The new purchase order would confirm customers’ confidence on product and after sales service of Volvo Trucks.
“We have invested five billion baht in network expansion of 15 owned dealers and increasing the assembling capacity in Thailand to serve the higher demand after Thailand and other countries in this region start implementing ASIAN Economic Community or AEC in next year” said Mr. Michel.

Telematics also enable the workshop to monitor key components, such as fuel consumption, component conditions, etc, thus making it possible to reduce maintenance and avoid unplanned stops, letting the customer fully focus on their core business.
