Saint-Gobain Group, the world's largest building products manufacturer specializing in the design, production and distribution of functional and sustainable materials for the construction, industrial and consumer markets, hosted this year’s second Saint-Gobain Thailand Club lunch and business briefing at Sukosol Hotel Bangkok. The event brought together senior executives from the company’s Thailand business units to review a presentation and business update by Pierre Andre De Chalendar, Chairman and Chief Executive, Saint-Gobain Group.
Pierre thanked Saint-Gobain Group managers for their valued contribution which has resulted in a progressive and profitable year to date. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to Thailand, noting that part of Saint-Gobain Group’s success in Asia is its continuing investment into the Thai market. Under the theme, “350 Reasons to Believe in the Future”, Saint-Gobain Group will globally celebrate its 350th Anniversary in 2015.
“Asian markets have been robust and continue to be very promising. Thailand leads the way, and for this reason Saint-Gobain Group has performed well in the region, giving us plenty of room for further expansion. Thailand has been good to Saint-Gobain Group, and in return, we commit to continued investment, employee training, an expansion of our high quality CSR and environmental programs including Gyproc Go Green (Gyproc 3G), and a long term vision in contributing to the success of Thailand as a regional leader” said Pierre.
Gyproc, Thailand’s premier gypsum and plaster products brand and member of the global Saint-Gobain family, is striving to achieve 5% growth this year ahead of the introduction of AEC in 2015. Gyproc will play an important role in Saint-Gobain Group’s regional designs on sustainable growth and improved profitability. As the group’s Thailand operations benefit from an exceptional and unified team of employees, Saint-Gobain Group plans to use its Thai business as a growth platform for investing in neighboring South-east Asian countries.
Saint-Gobain Group’s operation in South East Asia comprises more than 10 plants in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, and employs over 2,000 people. Globally, Saint-Gobain has 190,000 employees organized into four business sectors; Flat Glass, Packaging, Construction Products, and Building Materials Distribution.
