- Japanese franchisee joins to challenge used car modernization in Thailand
- The Japanese partner is confident to transfer success story from Japan to Thailand
V-Gulliver Company Limited, an affiliate of Japan’s No.1 used car firm, has opened its 3rd showroom, Gulliver Nawamin which is owned by a franchisee from Japan, as part of the network expansion plan of V-Gulliver Company Limited, the franchisor of Gulliver International Japan used car brand, according to Mr. Katsushi Nomura, Managing Director of V-Gulliver.
Mr. Nomura said the third showroom would strengthen Gulliver network in Thailand to enhance and upgrade used car market in the kingdom. V-Gulliver also plans to open more showrooms in Chiang Mai, Samut Prakan and Surat Thani this year.
“At that time, we will be able to start our stock share program among our showrooms meaning that potential used car buyers in Chiang Mai are able to buy the car through our Gulliver Network, like from Surat Thani or Bangkok. On the other hand, people in other provinces are also offered very good cars from Chiang Mai,” said Mr. Nomura.
Gulliver Nawamin showroom has display around 30 cars and the franchisee invests about 9 million baht in construction and 7 million baht in car inventory. It officially opens on October 30, 2014
This franchisee has long relationship with Gulliver International in Japan. It has been Gulliver franchisee for 18 years. It is selling around 100 cars per year and buying 350 cars per year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nomura said now V-Gulliver had been approached by many interested firms, including independent used car tent owners, leasing firms, and individual businessmen, to join V-Gulliver as franchisees. For more information please contact V-Gulliver at 02-645-0530.
“But, I accept the fact that used car franchise is very new for Thailand and we may need time to let the interested firms to know that now is the time to modernize used car market for Thailand. This was the thing that we had also faced in Japan in the past 20 years,” said Mr. Nomura.
Gulliver is very confident on the used car market in Thailand because the market had high potential to grow as the ratio of car holders among house holders is only 13.8 % in year 2010. On the other hands, Japan is 86.5 %, regarding to JETRO’s report. Moreover, since the politic situation is improved, the Thai consumers are confidence to purchase the big item goods.
Gulliver has been established more than two decades and now it is Japan’s number one used car company with 430 branches in Japan. It is buying 200,000 used cars a year and selling 60,000 cars through its 430 nationwide branches.
V-Gulliver is very confident that Gulliver brand will be well accepted in Thailand soon because Gulliver has introduced the success used car business platform to the Thai society, including 30 days or 5,000 km customer’s satisfaction buy back with six months or 10,000 kilometers warranty and 1 to 3 years warranty options depending on the aging of the vehicle.
