Both companies have been working closely together to make a car that is fast and accurate in the STCC race track. Volvo Polestar STCC is powered by 6-cylinder 3,500 cc engine that produces 420 HP. The 6-speed sequential with paddles on the steering wheel also allows the vehicle to be controlled effectively. The vehicle is one of the main factors enabling Ted Bjork, Volvo Polestar Racing team to wind up the recent STCC with the championship title. This year, Volvo Polestar Racing Team won both team and racer championship title, leaving Volvo in a stronger position to begin the next year racing season. From the race track to road cars From over 10 years of experience in the race track, Volvo and Polestar have been working together in bringing experience on the race track to road cars through the Volvo Drive-E Powertrains and Polestar Performance Optimisation. Polestar has also been playing a vital role in the development of the new Volvo Drive-E Powertrains that produces high power but low fuel consumption and emission. The Polestar Performance Optimisation, meanwhile, has enabled Volvo cars to enjoy additional power and torque. Since launched in 2009, more than 60,000 cars in over 60 countries worldwide have been optimized. We therefore work with Polestar in integrating racing experience and expertise into Volvo’s Drive-E Powertrains, which is a smaller, lighter and consumes less fuel compared to other engines of the same size but delivers higher power and emits less carbon dioxide. This is the real engine for the future that brings greater benefits to our customers and to the world,” said Chantana. Drive-E Powertrains include both benzene and diesel.
