Dr. Shuishi Sugi said he had been in Thailand for over 20 years and his core business was exports of flowers. However, he had decided to enter into used car business in Khon Khaen because he personally had been interested in automobile.
“When I learnt about the establishment of Gulliver in Thailand, I have been interested in joining with Gulliver here because I have been confident in Gulliver brand in Japan very much, and I also believe Gulliver brand will success in Thailand,” he said.
Gulliver has been in Japan more than two decades and more than 98% of Japanese know Gulliver brand as Japan’s No. 1 used car firm there.
Dr. Sugi added that Thais, especially in people who live in suburb, had considered car as a necessary for living. “So, I think used car business will never die because new car sold will create another used car which will be bought by the one who may not be affording to buy a new car for himself.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Dusit Laisuwannachat , owner of Suphan Used Car Company Limited, noted that he had been in used car business for more than 15 years and joining with Gulliver as franchisee would benefit his used car business directly because Gulliver had know-how and technology of selling and purchasing used cars.
“Gulliver is my answer to be success in used car business and I want to say to someone who has not decided to join Gulliver that you may miss this train,” said Mr. Dusit.
Mr. Nomura said the two new franchisees were local partners of V-Gulliver and would strengthen Gulliver nationwide network.
He noted that despite the used car market in Thailand in 2014 was not very good, the company had still gone ahead its expansion to recruit more franchisees to complete the company’s business plan.
“We are also approached by many potentials to explore the opportunity with Gulliver and I am confident that we will be able to hit our target to open 10 branches soon.
“This year will be a challenging year for us, so we will have to speed up with many candidates who are now in line with us in negotiation and we do hope to conclude soon,” said Mr. Nomura.
