Porsche recorded another successful year with delivery of 4,846 cars in the Asia Pacific region, which is an increase of 53 percent compared to 2013. The iconic 911 models maintained its steady growth at 345 units while 463 Boxster and Cayman weredelivered. The Cayenne continued to be in high demand with 1,722 cars, whereas the compact SUV, Macan, entering the market last year was delivered 1,836 times. Porsche experienced also significant growth on the Panamera model line with 480 vehicles (+40% compared to last year).
In 2014, Porsche AG delivered 189,850 new cars to customers all over the world – an increase of 17 percent over the previous year. “For the fourth record year in a row there are very specific reasons: fascinating products and highly motivated employees,” said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “On top of that, our brand experienced an additional upswing in 2014 as a result of the successful launch of the Macan. Worldwide, seventy-five percent of Macan customers were first-time buyers of a Porsche car.”
Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, said that all the markets in the region are experiencing positive sales development and the Porsche dealers are investing heavily into the brand. “The new Macan brings in new customers allowing first-time buyers to enter the world of Porsche. In addition to that, together with the super sports car and technology leader, the 918 Spyder, which is sold out worldwide, we continue to deliver exciting top models across all model lines such as the 911 GTS, 911 Targa 4 GTS, as well as Cayenne GTS and Turbo S. We will continue to widen our attractive product portfolio and provide outstanding Porsche purchase and ownership experience to our customers.”
Taiwan contributed 3,352 vehicles (+68% growth) to the total sales of Porsche in the Asia
Pacific region. Sales in Malaysia and Singapore grew by 35% to 771 units. Other important markets within the region, including Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam continue to develop by 27%. Sales in Indonesia, Brunei, French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Sri Lanka represented 330 units, which is a 10% increase compared to the previous year. Porsche Asia Pacificwelcomes the new markets Cambodia, which has been in operation since 2014, and Mongolia, planned for operation at a later stage of this year.
