Bangkok--11 Mar--
Online businesses, application providers, government and financial services are often targeted by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Thailand is particularly vulnerable due to a lack of specialized protection against such attacks. Secure Network Operation Center Ltd. (Snoc) and Nexusguard have created a direct security system – The first of its kind in Thailand to protect against loss due to DDoS attacks. Any organization that has been attacked will be offered a short term trial at no cost for a limited time, in effort to support the country with a safer internet.
Mr. Kittipan Sri-bua-iam, Chief Executive Officer of Snoc, Explains that DDoS attacks are cyber attacks that slow down or disable networks by overwhelming them with a high volume of traffic generated from multiple sources. This type of DDoS attack is commonly known as volumetric attacks. Each attack is estimated to cost the organization 1.3 million Thai baht per hour in damage. Volumetric attacks are popular because the method is affordable and easy to execute. The cost to launch an attack is 20 baht in Thailand, while abroad the cost is approximately US$3 per target per hour.
Recent examples include Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox, the attacks prevented players from connecting to the services during the Christmas Day in Thailand, both public and commercial organizations are at risk to similar attacks. In fact, many have suffered from DDoS attacks on a day-to-day basis, due to the lack of adequate security and understanding. Often, these attacks are not publicized given victims do not want to suffer additional damage to their reputation.
Mr. Kittipan adds, “Given our 17 years tenure and security expertise in the industry, we continually innovate to provide the best security solutions. We have joined forces with Nexusguard, the global leader fighting malicious internet attacks. Snoc will be the first provider of DDoS protection services in Thailand. Our primary clients are organizations providing online business and transactions, government organizations, and financial institutions.”
Previously, private organizations in Thailand relied on foreign companies due to the lack of domestic providers. And though the public sector has invested in their own infrastructure, these solutions do not protect against DDoS attacks and nor are they able to keep up with new technologies. In contrast, Snoc’s solution is designed for all organizations, providing affordable solutions with guaranteed protection against 99% of attacks.
Mr. Bryan Sat, Nexusguard’s Regional Channel Manager, explains “As the global leader in DDoS defense, Nexusguard is at the forefront of the fight against malicious Internet attacks, protecting organizations from threats to their websites, services, and reputations. We have the tools and expertise to protect any organization’s vital business systems. Our global network presence includes Thailand, enabling us to protect against both foreign and domestic threats. Joining forces with Snoc will provide an end-to-end solution against cyber attacks for Thai enterprises.”
“Often, organizations do not realize they are under attack until it is too late. The damage has been done – their systems no longer function properly. The loss in revenue and reputation is staggering. Therefore, it is imperative to have a protection solution in place proactively,” Mr. Sat concluded.
In addition to security solutions for DDoS attacks, Snoc DDoS Protection features Web Application Firewall (WAF) for protection against website hacking, load balancing, SSL Attack Handling, and Web Acceleration to improve website's access speed.
Mr. Visrut Manunpon Chief Technical Officer of Secure Network Operation Center Co., Ltd. revealed, “Snoc and Nexusguard are providing a cloud-based service that includes 24 - hour customer service support via phone and email to fully serve online businesses. The service starts at 10,000 baht.
To support Thailand’s government and its Digital Economy policy, Snoc will launch “Raise Your Hand If You’ve Been Attacked,” a campaign that provides free trials to organizations that have previously been a cyber attack victim. Contact Snoc to set up protection. Provider aims to secure 100 clients and generate 50 million within the first year of enhancing the country’s cyber security.
