Bangkok--25 Mar--Carl Byoir & Associates BMW Motorrad Highlights The new BMW F 800 R BMW F 700 GS BMW S 1000 XR BMW R 1200 GS BMW R 1200 GS Adventure BMW F 800 GS BMW Motorrad Thailand brings the latest innovations in ultimate riding machines to the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show, including the new BMW F 800 R, the even better mid-size premium motorcycle; the BMW S 1000 XR, the perfect balance between sportiness and adventure; as well as the BMW F 700 GS, the latest member of the GS family to be assembled in Thailand. Big Bike enthusiasts can experience the BMW motorcycle premium line-up with special campaigns and offers at the BMW booth during March 25-April 5, 2015 at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muangthong Thani. BMW Motorrad Thailand has also announced in its strategic product plan that the BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand Plant in Rayong will expand the local assembly to cover 3 more variants of the GS family, namely the BMW F 700 GS, the BMW R 1200 GS and the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. Mr. Matthias Pfalz, President of BMW Group Thailand commented that, “The rapid growth of Thailand’s Big Bike market and customer demands is an essential reason for our decision to expand our motorcycle assembly lines. Adding more flexibility to our Rayong facility will continue to strengthen BMW Group’s presence in the Thai market. The expansion of the motorcycle assembly line will cover 3 more variants of the GS family, namely the BMW 700 GS, the BMW R 1200 GS and the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. Together with the existing BMW F 800 GS and BMW F 800 R assembly lines, the BMW Group Rayong Plant will be assembling a total of 5 premium two-wheel ranges, with 4 out of 5 models representing Thailand’s popular GS family. This will be also an important step for BMW Group Plant Rayong to undertake export production for other Asian markets in the mid-term.” The new BMW F 800 R The new BMW F 800 R is the latest in the line of characterful in-line two-cylinder motorcycles from BMW Motorrad. Consistent development of its all-around qualities has ensured the dynamic roadster is ready to delight owners with its sporty performance, agile handling and even greater versatility. Power is sourced, as before, from a liquid-cooled four-valve twin-cylinder engine with 798 cc displacement. With output increasing to 90 hp (66 kW) at 8,000 rpm and shorter ratios for first and second gear, the parallel twin offers even greater sprinting ability while retaining the impressive pulling power, instantaneous responses and low fuel consumption familiar from the predecessor model. Peak torque remains 86 Nm at 5,800 rpm. The engaging riding experience on board the F 800 R is further enhanced by new suspension components and optimised ergonomics. For example, an upside-down fork now takes care of front suspension duties, while a hydraulic double-disc brake with radial brake callipers provides fade-resistant stopping power. A new seat fixed lower down (at 770 mm. instead of the previous 775 mm.), combined with new handlebars and rider foot pegs create even better ergonomics for the rider. The design of the F 800 R provides a visual showcase for that extra rider engagement. With its newly designed fairings, radiator shields, front mudguard and wheels, plus a new range of colors, the sporty roadster cuts an extremely dynamic figure. The now symmetrical main headlight also gives it a distinctive “face”. In keeping with the “Safety 360ฐ” principle, the new F 800 R is fitted with ABS as standard. BMW F 700 GS When BMW Motorrad extended the GS family with an entry-level and medium category in the form ofthe BMW F 650 GS and the BMW F 800 GS, there was no doubt as to the message: lots of riding fun based on light, safe controllability over all surfaces, plenty of drive power and endurance on trips - even when there are only gravel tracks left to get you where you're going. The BMW F 700 GS continues to draw power from the distinctive, liquid-cooled 4-valve 2-cylinder engine with 798 cc, electronic fuel injection, closed-loop catalytic converter and 6-speed gearbox. The BMW F 700 GS engine now delivers maximum output of 75 hp (55 Kw) at 7,300 rpm and maximum torque of 77 Nm at 5,300 rpm. The BMW F 700 GS is now fitted with a double disc brake on the front wheel. What is more, the latest GS model is fitted with the BMW Motorrad ABS as standard. BMW S 1000 XR BMW Motorrad has taken the next step by bringing out the S 1000 XR, which offers this repertoire of core characteristics in a brand-new blend dubbed “Adventure Sport”. This encompasses dynamic touring qualities, sporty performance and high levels of comfort as well as outstanding everyday usability. In short, the BMW S 1000 XR serves up its own individual mix of sporting and touring flair at the same time as injecting a generous dose of emotion. The straight-four-cylinder engine on the BMW S 1000 XR is derived from that of the S 1000 R roadster. It has an output of 160 hp (118 Kw) at 11,000 rpm and generates maximum torque of 112 Nm at 9,250 rpm. Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) offers optimum adaptation to the prevailing conditions. BMW Motorrad ABS as standard The BMW S 1000 XR already comes with Riding Mode Pro. The Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) ensures a high standard of riding safety by optimizing traction. ? BMW F 800 GS The dynamic, high-torque water-cooled 2-cylinder in-line engine with 798 cc capacity, fuel injection and closed-loop catalytic converter delivers 63 kW (85 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 83 Nm at 5,750 rpm, making for agile power delivery. In response to popular demand among existing BMW F 800 GS customers for a reduction in seating height, BMW Motorrad Thailand now offers lowered suspension as standard equipment. In accordance with the "Safety 360ฐ" principle, BMW Motorrad provides ABS as standard in the new BMW F 800 GS, with double-disk brakes on the front wheel. The BMW Motorrad ASC (Automatic Stability Control) as standard is unique in this market segment. The traction control system prevents unwanted spinning of the rear wheel while accelerating, which would result in the loss of lateral grip and thus break-out of the rear wheel. The analog speedometer and engine speed display are arranged vertically, new dial faces ensuring further improved legibility of road speed and engine speed. The information display already includes fuel level and coolant temperature as standard. New generation switch units are more compact in design and offer improved ergonomics. BMW R 1200 GS The world’s first motorcycle with an LED main headlight featuring an integrated daytime running light. The BMW R 1200 GS is equipped with freely selectable riding modes “Rain”, “Road”, “Dynamic”, “Enduro” and “Enduro Pro”. The Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) is integral as standard. The air/liquid-cooled four stroke flat twin engine with 1170 cc capacity generates maximum output at 125 hp at 7750 rpm and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 6500 rpm. The ultimate riding machine provides a top speed of over 200 km//h with lowered average consumption of 24.4 km/l. BMW R 1200 GS Adventure Based on the same versatile overall concept as the R 1200 GS, with a spirited twin-cylinder boxer engine and agile chassis, but with enhanced off-road prowess and globetrotting abilities. Larger fuel tank of 30 liters. Spring travel 0.8 inches longer at front and rear compared to R 1200 GS. Robust engine and tank protection bar. The new R 1200 GS Adventure is powered by the same spirited air/liquid-cooled boxer engine featured on the R 1200 GS, with a displacement of 1,170 cc and an output of 92 kW / 125 hp at 7,750 rpm.
