Bangkok--3 Apr--Brand Now
Viber, the leading OTT communications app offering free messaging and HD-quality calls, released its first tailored sticker pack for Thai users just in time for Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year and its water festival. The new sticker pack, Sawasdee Thailand!, is the first in a series of localized sticker packs designed for Thai people and fans of Thailand.
This first Thai sticker pack includes more than 50 unique stickers celebrating and highlighting various aspects about Thai culture and traditions, including the Songkran festival. The localized pack offers, for the very first time, stickers in the Thai language with a series of greetings and expressions. It also features many cultural elements such as traditional greetings, local food specialties and leisure as well as key landmarks in Bangkok and other regions.
Designed by the Bangkok-based creative agency Asia Media Studio, the new Viber sticker pack features localized versions of the main Viber family characters, LegCat, Violet and DJ. Dressed in traditional attire and local streetwear, the iconic Viber characters are celebrating the festivities of the water festival, enjoying delicious Thai food, and conversing in Thai while hanging out in different popular places.
During Songkran, Thai users will be able to share stickers for various occasions. If you’re in a joyful mood, you can invite your friends to go out in the streets and have fun with water guns; if you’re in a more spiritual mood, why not tell your loved ones it’s time for meditation and a visit to the temple. Also, if you’re hanging out or shopping at the floating market, you’ll have a dedicated sticker to tell your partner to join in. In addition, the Sawasdee Thailand! sticker pack showcases various elements of Thai culture. Whether you’re a fan of Thai dancing or Thai boxing, you now have tailored stickers to share the love and passion with your friends. And if you’re a ‘foodie’, there are plenty of stickers about Thai food to share with your friends and loved ones and whet their appetite! Viber users in Thailand will discover plenty of fun stickers they can send to friends and family alike.
“As Thai people start celebrating Songkran, the Thai New Year, we are delighted to join the vibe with the release of Viber’s first Thai sticker pack”, said Mark Hardy, Chief Marketing Officer at Viber. “Providing unique local content is one of our priorities and we hope that users in Thailand will enjoy sharing these fun stickers with friends and family. There will be more Thai sticker packs to discover soon, so stay tuned.”
Viber continues to spread Thai Vibes. Back in November 2014, Viber launched Public Chats (Beta) allowing users to discover, share and follow live discussions on Viber. In line with its promise of localization, Viber has partnered with Thai personalities and brands offering its first Thai content with live conversations about the Thai scene. Thailand Public Chats partners include Keng Kawiz, Thai tech blogger and TV host, Bangkok-based last-minute booking platform Hotel Quickly and White Card Asia, among others.
The Sawasdee Thailand! sticker pack is now available to download for free from the Viber Sticker Market. This release marks the first of a series of Thai sticker packs to be announced in the coming months.
