Scania joins hands with government and private sectors to inject 10 Million Baht for organizing Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015; Thailand’s biggest truck and bus driving skill competition to win the prizes worth over 1.9 Million Baht and elevate Thai truck driver standard to reach international standard
Scania joins hands with government and private sectors to elevate and develop truck and bus drivers to reach international standard as well as to give opportunity for truck and bus drivers across the country to prove their driving skills within the competition, ‘Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015’; Thailand’s truck and bus professional driving skill competition and win the prizes worth over 1.9 million baht.
Mr. Martin Nielson, Business Development Director, Scania Siam Co., Ltd. said about the arrangement of Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 that this event was considered as Thailand’s biggest professional truck and bus driver competition. This competition was the part of Scania Driver Competition arranged across the globe by Scania. This was one of the major competitions that professional large commercial vehicle drivers had been waiting for. The objectives of this competition were to elevate capability of transporting drivers as well as develop and enhance the professional transporting vehicle drivers’ driving skills to achieve driving safety, efficiency fuel consuming and true pollution reduction. The success of this competition could be proved from interestingness of applicants who joined this competition around the world. From the beginning in 2003, there were 18,000 interested people joining the competition and currently the number of professional drivers joining the competition was increased up to 100,000 people.
Besides seeking for Thailand’s superior professional transporting vehicle drivers, Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 gave precedence to the development on the driving skills of Thai drivers to reach world class driving standard. Scania had realized that skillful driver was one of the major factors particularly for transporting and logistics industrial sector, transporting business sector and social sector as professional driver with capability would perform efficiency transporting, on-time transporting, fuel saving, environmental friendly and more importantly was to create on road safety and reduce the loss in lives and assets.
Mr. Phuriwat Rak-Intr, Country Manager of Scania Siam Co., Ltd. said about the distinction of the arrangement of Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 that for this third year of event arrangement, Scania would like to add more intensity to the competition by using the same testing standard as the world class Scania Driver Competition and injecting over 10 million baht for event arrangement budget which successfully attracted 1,500 applicants across the country to joined this competition. In addition, the competition selected qualified 64 drivers who passed the paper test session to join the actual driving skill test of the qualifying round, held at Scania Service Center, Chiang Mai. And eventually, Scania had gotten 16 skillful drivers to join the championship round of Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 both in truck and bus classes and win the prizes worth over 1.9 million baht.
Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 received great supports from every sector included government sector as Department of Land Transport, private sector organization as Thailand Automotive Institute, and social organization as No Sleepy Drive Fund under the patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra as well as business partners as Michelin Siam Co., Ltd. and ID Driver Driving Institute which from earlier qualifying round, the interestingness of this competition was the high capability and skill of Thai transporting vehicle drivers. For this year competition, there were several newcomer drivers who were skillful in the younger ages. This might derive from the part of training on the discipline, traffic rules obedient, and on road safety responsibility which was the Scania’s key subjects emphasized in driver training all along. Besides giving knowledge and developing driving skill and capability, Scania believed that the arrangement of Scania Driver Competition Thailand 2015 would take part to create and elevate Thai transporting vehicle drivers’ skills to reach international standard in more significant numbers. This effort would help developing and growing transporting and logistics industry and transporting business sector, while for social sector, Scania had implanted awareness in discipline, traffic rules obedient, sympathy, morality, and conscious of the road sharing safety which would promote safety and restore new image for Thai transporting vehicle drivers as well.
