Bangkok--3 Sep--Oasis Media "ITD" in the celebration of 13-year anniversary mobilizes local and foreign experts to discuss on Post-2015 Development Challenges: Implication for Trade and Development in ASEAN Community. The highlight will be 17 sustainable development goals in the United Nations' framework for discussion. ITD expects to have academic works that will definitely benefit the country's and the ASEAN's development. September 2, 2015 at Landmark Hotel, Bangkok—General Dapong Rattanasuwan, the Minister of Education, presides over an international academic conference entitled, "Post-2015 Development Challenges: Implication for Trade and Development in ASEAN Community." Dr. Kamalinne Pinitpuvadol, Executive Director of the International Institute for Trade and Development (Public Organization) or "ITD" discloses that on the occasion of stepping into 14th year of ITD establishment, ITD holds an international academic conference on Post-2015 Development Challenges: Implication for Trade and Development in ASEAN Community as a stage where local and foreign experts as well as academic, researchers, students and general public can share knowledge and idea for development and development summary to create new challenges of trade and development of the country and the ASEAN Community during post-2015. This will create new academic works that will benefit the country. The conference topic will raise Millennium Development Goals — MDGs that will end in 2015. The United Nations has set the post-2015 development agenda that will maintain sustainable development goals, aiming at 17 goals which include proposals to end poverty; eliminate hunger; attain healthy lives and promote well-being; provide inclusive and equitable quality education; achieve gender equality; ensure sustainable management of water and sanitation; ensure access to sustainable and modern energy; promote productive employment and decent work; develop infrastructure and promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization; reduce inequality within and among countries; make cities and human settlements safe; ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns; take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact; conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development; protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems; promote peaceful and inclusive societies and provide access to justice; and strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. As the ASEAN nations will step into the ASEAN Community by the end of 2015 which comprises 3 pillars: 1) ASEAN Security Community – ASC 2) ASEAN Economic Community – AEC 3) ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community – ASCC, the ASEAN Community will need to face new challenges which will arise during the post-2015 era, particularly trade and development. The new challenges include being a part of the world's manufacturing and supply chain networks; abolishing non-tariff barriers; facilitating trade; investment for innovation and technology development; human resources development; raising competency; reforming domestic laws and regulations; focusing on economic development which emphasizes on environment; green technology development; natural disasters which damage other ASEAN members; human and animal disease outbreak; terrorism; human trafficking; protection of human rights and labor; cooperation on natural disaster management; promotion of economic growth with participation and equality; reducing development gaps of member countries; and the United Nations' sustainable development goals. "Throughout the past 13 years, ITD has produced academic works and services consecutively including training and supporting research on international trade, finance, investment and development for people in developing countries, particularly in Asia, to enhance potential and capability in setting economic policy appropriately as well as promote economic cooperation in the regional level through knowledge sharing and exchange; and being a center to hold training courses and activities. And this year marks another significant year that ITD will celebrate 13th year anniversary so we hold this academic conference and seminar to develop and create new challenges in trade and development in the ASEAN Community. There is also an exhibition where ITD's significant works in research and training, human resources development are shown," Dr. Kamalinne concludes.
