Bangkok--25 Sep--PRDD TICON's rental factories have become the first in Thailand to receive LEED Certified status for their eco-friendly qualities. Capable of reducing energy costs by as much as 300,000 baht per year and water consumption by 750 cubic meters per year, the green manufacturing facility enhances the quality of life as well as the physical well-being of factory operators, and their success will continue to inspire further development of eco-friendly warehouses under TICON's management. Mr. Virapan Pulges, Managing Director of TICON Industrial Connection Plc., a leader in ready-to-use factories and warehouses in Thailand, revealed that the company has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), America's leading agency in defining green building standards. TICON is the first developer of serviced rental factories and warehouses in Thailand to receive LEED certification. "TICON has been focused on the development of eco-friendly buildings since 2014. Our corporate policy considers natural resources and the environment to be elements of great importance along with community development. One of our main goals is to make our factories and warehouses capable of achieving excellence in energy efficiency and environmental protection in every stage of operation – from design and construction to full-scale industrial operation. LEED certification is a globally-accepted standard trusted by energy conservation and environmental protection organizations the world over, and this has driven TICON to develop its plants to achieve LEED-certified status," said Mr. Virapan. TICON's eco-friendly pilot project began with the development of a new for-lease factory spanning 3,300 square meters of floor space in Asia Industrial Estate (Suvarnabhumi) as a prototype. The 40 million-baht factory was developed to meet the standards of the LEED Core & Shell Rating System (LEED CS), which applies specifically to rental buildings. Upon completion, LEED CS standard tests showed that the plant was able to achieve a 32% improvement in energy efficiency based on the globally-accepted ASHRA standard for efficient indoor power usage, resulting in energy cost savings to the tune of approximately $10,000 or 356,000 Baht per year. Meanwhile, water consumption fell by 42% from standard levels, resulting in 750 cubic meters of water saved every year. With an ASHRAE-standard air circulation system, the building provides its occupants with a better environment to work in and better health on top of the energy savings. "In addition to this prototype plant, TICON Group is currently developing an eco-friendly warehouse based on LEED standards at TPARK Wangnoi 2. The 25,380 sq.m. facility is expected to achieve full LEED certification within Q4 2015, allowing it to deliver excellent efficiency in the use of natural resources, water, and energy compared to average warehouses. Once again, this warehouse has been designed to provide its operators with improved working conditions and satisfaction. For this reason, we are confident that our LEED-certified factories and warehouses will garner a positive reception from our customers, who are leading organizations in their respective fields with genuine care for the environment," Mr. Virapan concluded.
