Thais embraces Online Shopping Festival, purchasing over 140,000 items on November 11
Lazada (www.lazada.co.th) - the number one online shopping and selling destination - marked the start of the Online Festival Sale on November 11 by announcing that it has reached annualized gross merchandise value of over 10 billion Thai Baht in Thailand.
The site registered a record of 2.3 million visits on the first day of sale. As mobile internet access continues to grow, most of the customers preferred to go mobile, with 60% of the total orders coming from mobile devices. Lazada iOS and Android applications have almost 5.5 million downloads in Thailand.
Lazada started its Online Shopping Festival at midnight of November 11, with a tremendous response from customers, who purchased more than 140,000 items across 14 different categories. Over 60,000 units of Health & Beauty and Fashion items were ordered, making lifestyle the bestselling category. In addition, customers quickly snapped up 5,000 units of 4G ready mobile phones on that single day alone, with discounted exclusive models from Alcatel, Lenovo, Meizu, Infinix and special deals from AIS Official store.
Lazada Marketplace – Lazada's third party business platform – is continuing to offer 400,000 different items in the promotion, the widest ever promotional range offered in Thailand. Every day, about 2,000,000 items are available on the platform from 7,000 sellers.
More than 50 brand partners promoted Lazada's Online Shopping Festival with over 35 Facebook posts and Line Official Account messages offering special promotions, exclusive products and deals to about 50 million fans.
Furthermore, brands partners including among other Bosh, L'OREAL Paris, Maybelline, Philips, Brands, Olay, and Nivea provided "buy one get one free" promotions or discount up to 50% via their dedicated shop in shops.
To ensure smooth delivery of all orders, Lazada Express – Lazada's dedicated logistic company – is working hard with its key partners. Supported by a 5,000 sqm dedicated fulfillment center, 16 distribution hubs located nationwide, and a fleet of 440 vehicles, 70% of all items ordered on the first day of Online Festival was shipped on the same day. In addition, Lazada is also working closely with cross-border sellers from the international market place platform to ship the 13,000 items ordered from them.

All these mark only the beginning as the big sale on Lazada continues and will culminate in a three-day finale from 10 to 12 December. Shoppers can expect an exciting month of deals and fun with flash sales, daily best offers, product category specials, curated brands' showcase, exclusive partner promotions, and app-only deals.
