Throughout July, chefs at basil take diners on a culinary journey to Southern Thailand with an outstanding 5-course sharing set menu.
The food of the South is influenced by its Muslim heritage and it carries much of the trademark pungency of India cuisine. Bordered on both sides by the sea and tropical islands, seafood dishes are also plentiful in the South.
Diners will enjoy kong kin len or "appetizer", the chef's welcome teaser of goong thod, a deep fried marinated turmeric prawn fritter. Notable dishes on the intriguing menu include kaeng khua neau yang, grilled beef rib eye in turmeric and coconut curry, and the favorite southern dish of pad sator, stir-fried petai beans with your choice of pork, chicken or prawns. Other dishes include pla tom khamin, spicy soup with snapper turmeric and regional Thai herbs, and local delights from the Grande Dessert Trolley served with a hot lemongrass tea infusion.
