Then, the official relations began on 26 September 1887 with the sign of "Declaration of Amity and Commerce" made by Mr. Chuzo Aoki, Deputy Chancellor of Japan's Foreign Affair, and His Royal Highness Prince Devawongse Varopakarn, Chancellor of Siam's Foreign Affair.
Thailand became the 1st country in Southeast Asia that officially began the relations with Japan. Such relations is not only reserved in aspect of economy, trade, investment, cooperation, but also between Royal Families of both nations. On 26 September 2017, Thailand - Japan diplomatic relations has reached its 130th anniversary.
Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., is a Japanese car maker that has received warm welcome from Thai since it set the first step in Thailand 56 years ago. Thai got an opportunity to experience Mitsubishi cars for the 1st time in 1961 with three-wheeler Leo and the early stage Colt model.
