Lazada, the leading online shopping and selling destination in Southeast Asia, celebrated its 6th anniversary with a 240 percent increase in its number of active sellers as well as three times more customers signing up on Lazada Wallet during the campaign.
Throughout the three-day extravaganza between 25 and 27 April 2018, the increase of the number of sellers was a leap of 110 percent on last year's anniversary campaign and a dramatic increase versus the previous month, with more sellers making sales across the three campaign days than the total number who made a sale during the entire month of March.
This seller-focused initiative is in line with Thailand's Smart Business Transformation programme, helping strengthen the digital capabilities of SMEs, which are cited as a major driver in the growth of the country's economy.
Throughout the campaign, 47 percent of sellers were from outside Bangkok, of which 37 percent came from northern and eastern provinces, with central, south and western Thailand accounting for the remaining 63 percent.
The campaign saw a spike in customers as well, with three times more customers signing up on Lazada Wallet, a one-click away to make purchases and enjoy exclusive promotions, than on non-campaign days. The new payment option makes purchases faster and more convenient. It was used 12 times more often during the anniversary campaign than on non-campaign days.
To keep up with demand, Lazada employs a highly efficient delivery service with a warehouse that can ship 65 parcels a minute, including bulky items such as the Samsung washing machines with Wobble Technology, Samsung UHD Smart TV 49" and Sharp LED digital TV 40", which were the best-selling large-items throughout the anniversary campaign. During those three days, the fastest same-day delivery parcel was delivered within an impressive 2 hours 58 minutes from the main warehouse to a customer in Chatuchak.
