One of the most exciting holidays in China is the Dragon Boat Festival, occurring around the time of the Summer Solstice, with its origins almost 2,000 years ago and perhaps even longer. A celebration of loyalty and family, the festival is marked with fascinating dragon boat races wherever you will find Chinese communities and large body of water.
The Dragon Boat Festival is also enjoyed with family get-togethers as well as the drinking of a special cereal wine called Realgar wine and the eating of delicious rice dumplings known as Zongzi. These tasty dumplings are made with a variety of fillings, either sweet or savory, and even different shapes, depending on the region where they are made.
