AIS confirms to participate in 1800 MHz spectrum auction but decides not to join re-auction of 900 MHZ spectrum

Bangkok--8 Aug--AIS According to the announcement of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) on an invitation to apply for 1800MHz and 900MHz spectrum license auction, Advanced Info Service Public Limited Company (AIS) via its subsidiary, Advanced Wireless Network Limited Company (AWN) had received such application. AIS decides to participate in 1800 MHz spectrum auction but decides not to participate in the upcoming spectrum auction organized by NBTC. Today (August 8, 2018), According to Mr. Weerawat Kiattipongthaworn, Chief Corporate Officer, after the Company has considered the auction terms of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) carefully and thoroughly, AIS decided to authorize Advance Wireless Network Co.Ltd ( AWN ) to participate in 1800 MHz spectrum auction. As mandate following application submission, the Company is liable to hold confidential of relevant information effective from the application submission date until the action result is announced. However, the Company decides not to participate in the upcoming 900 MHz spectrum auction. Due to the upward trends of telecom industry, AIS decides to participate in 1800 MHz spectrum auction. The Company will have an opportunity to bring 1800 MHz band to develop and invent new innovations and services for all customers and industries and will have an ability to compete with other countries, which will make Thailand's digital infrastructure stronger, and will drive Thailand to Thailand 4.0, which complies with Government's policy.
