Thailand’s leading telco strengthened with additional 1800 MHz spectrum

Bangkok--24 Sep--AIS AIS received the 1800 MHz spectrum license from NBTC today, accentuating its no.1 in Thailand's telecom industry ready to deliver superior services to its customers featuring faster internet speed on the extra-wide 1800 MHz known as "Super Block" starting Sept 28. Somchai Lert sutiwong, Chief Executive Officer at Advanced Info Service Public Limited Company or AIS, said that today (Sept 24) AIS representatives comprising management, staff and brand ambassadors receive the license on 1800 MHz (1740 – 1745 and 1835 – 1840 MHz: 5 MHz x 2) from the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) after winning the 1800 MHz spectrum auction bid by Advanced Wireless Network Company (AWN), an AIS subsidiary. AWN won the bid at 12,511 million baht, securing no. 1 telecom operator and digital-life service provider to possess the most bandwidth from NBTC. "I am very grateful to NBTC for allocating national resource for the benefits of Thai people. The latest 1800 MHz spectrum auction sets another good example in appointing AIS to utilize the frequency to strengthen Thailand's telecom infrastructure moving towards Thailand 4.0 society." More importantly, on Sept 28, AIS will officially launch the 1800 MHz operation with its extra-wide bandwidth so called "Super Block." AIS customers will experience superior services as the mobile signal becomes faster and stronger with 30% improvement on data – all applicable on existing mobile phones with no extra charge.
