Bangkok--8 Oct--AIS AIS informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) that the company would not participate in the 900MHz spectrum license auction to be organized by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) on October 20. After careful consideration on the auction terms, AIS management is confident that the decline would not affect its competitive advantage considering that the company currently has the most bandwidth in the industry sufficient for future growth and upcoming 5G technology. Advanced Info Service Public Limited Company (AIS) informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) that the company has decided not to participate in the upcoming 900 MHz spectrum license auction hosted by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to be held on October 20. AIS reassures that such decision would not affect the company's competitive advantage as the management has reviewed all possible consequences carefully and thoroughly. Presently, AIS is the leader in telecom service and digital technology possessing the most bandwidth in the industry granted by NBTC. With the roaming bandwidth from TOT, AIS total spectrum amounts 120 MHz (60 MHz x 2). Its 1800 MHz yields the widest bandwidth at 40 MHz (20 MHz x 2), enabling over 40 million AIS subscribers including the future growth to benefit from superior data service at its highest efficiency according to technical standard. AIS also added that the currently amount of bandwidth aligns with the company's strategic planning in preparation for 5G technology.
