The project was initiated on July 3, 2018 and customers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bag and say no to plastic bags. It is expected that the campaign will reduce the number of single-use plastic bags by 50 million units by the end of this year.
To continuously support the campaign, Tops has also introduced "Green Checkout" counters to facilitate customers who bring their own shopping bag or say no to plastic bags.
