Bangkok--17 Dec--Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety Bangkok
On the 13th December 2018, Pol. Col. Dr. Kitti Ariyanont, Deputy Commander of Traffic Police Division, the representative of Metropolitan Police Bureau, gave the opening remarks to 25 traffic police officers who are middle executives for the operation level attending the "Data-led Enforcement training" facilitated by Mr. Robert Susanj, a former traffic police officer from Slovenia, from the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP). The objective of the training, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), is to improve traffic police's understanding on the need to strengthen data and how data improves efficiency and effectiveness of enforcement. This full day training followed the first day training about the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) on Seatbelt Enforcement for traffic police officers.

Aiming to efficiently reduce road traffic injuries and deaths in Bangkok, the Initiative involves the interventions through campaigns to raise road safety awareness, such as campaigns on drunk driving, reducing speed, seatbelt, and helmet wearing as well as through the design of improving safer roads.
