SO Sofitel Bangkok continues our wellness initiative through the year with SO FIT SO FUN RUN 2019, The 2nd Edition from last year, which will be hosting at Lumpini Park on Sunday 3rd March 2019. The exciting initiative organize by SO Sofitel Bangkok in partnership with BMW Thailand hosting to raise funds for the good cause with 100% donation goes to Care4Water Foundation and Hands Across The Water to support children in need across Thailand.
SO FIT SO Fun Run is theme to stay true to SO Sofitel Bangkok's unique identity inspired by the FIVE elements of Bangkok's Lumpini Park: Water, Earth, Metal, Wood, and Fire. Expecting 1,200 Runners invite to join 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer race for only THB 800- per person, with 100% ticket sale proceeds to go directly to Care4Water Foundation and Hands Across The Water, with no expense deduction. Race registration begins from 4:30am onwards before official race kicked off at 6:00am, releasing first, all 10km runners followed by 5km runners.
Shutter Running is appointed to be a key organizer for this event. The Race Pack for this event is design to use canvas material and include NIKE Running T-shirt, a Bib Number, and SO Vouchers for exclusive discounts at SoSPA and Red Oven Restaurant at SO Sofitel Bangkok. Tickets will be available for purchase on the website at www.sofit-sofunrun.com on Wednesday 23th January 2019.
Runners are invited to enjoy complimentary services on the race day with food and beverages from our sponsors including Mont Fleur, Singha Water, Fresh Doze, If, De La Lita, Gatorade, Playground 360. First aid station with AED machines, available throughout the race as well as Baggage Drop and complimentary Leg Massage Tent by SoSPA. ABOUT CARE4WATER FOUNDATION
On the well-being front, the 'Care4Water campaign' – a collaboration between BMW Group Thailand, the American non-profit organization Waves for Water and BMW authorized dealers – was officially launched in 2015 to provide access to clean water for people in need across Thailand. With the ultimate goal is to improve quality of life and increase overall well-being for various communities, BMW has reached out to people in different regions of the country to share its expertise in the matter. Locals are provided with knowledge on the health benefits of clean water as well as how to install and maintain water filters themselves.
"These activities resulted in tangible improvements in water quality for consumption and, more importantly, quality of life and health. With appropriate maintenance, the donated filters can process up to 1 million gallons or over 3.7 million liters of water, and a single filter can benefit as many as 100 persons."
Over the three years of operations since 2015, the Care4Water project has donated 5,020 units of the water filtration equipment to 60 communities to improve the quality of life for over 502,000 people. By the end of 2019 and 2021, the company aims to reach 6,520 and 9,520 units donated respectively, providing access to clean water for daily consumption to as many as 952,000 people in rural communities."

ABOUT HANDS ACROSS THE WATER
Hands Across The Water was founded by Peter Baines after he witnessed the devastation and aftermath of the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. Originally tasked with housing 50 orphaned children in the badly hit Baan Tharn Namchai region, Hands Across The Water now provides a home and education to more than 350 children throughout Thailand, whilst continuing to support over 40 young adults through university education. The homes managed by "Hands Across The Water" are for children that have no other options in life, providing them with a place to be loved, an education, and ultimately when the time comes to leave, a choice for their future.
Thailand rides and treks are the main fundraising source for Hands Across The Water who operates a social enterprise to cover all administrative costs, which ensures that 100% of every dollar donated or fundraised goes directly to the children and projects in Thailand.
