EXIM Thailand Launches “EXIM COVID-19 Relief” CSR Project to Assist COVID-19 Victims in Society

Bangkok--28 Apr--EXIM BANK Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), revealed that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged all sectors in the society, EXIM Thailand has launched the EXIM COVID-19 Relief CSR Project comprising intra-organizational healthcare promotion and other preventive measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) into nearby communities in parallel with remedial programs and assistance to those adversely affected by the virus. The Bank has made available assistance schemes for clients, business operators and investors, a clinic to give financial advice to entrepreneurs in general, an agricultural business support package in collaboration with alliances, and social activities. EXIM Thailand’s social activities to relieve impact from COVID-19, worth 1.6 million baht in total, comprise: Waiver of space rental fees for shops and restaurants in EXIM Building for 3 months. Organizing a fund-raising activity among the Bank’s executives and staff in conjunction with donation by the Bank to purchase medical devices for treatment of COVID-19 patients through Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, in a total amount of 437,500 baht.Preparation and handover of 5,000 face shields and 10,000 bottles of drinking water to medical staff in hospitals and public health service centers as well as employees who are on duty in Bangkok areas exposed to risk of human infection. Support for purchase of 2,000 face shields from the Federation of Thai Industries as part of contribution of funds for acquisition of medical equipment for public hospitals and handover of face shields to medical and public health staff in provincial healthcare facilities.Support for the Engineering Institute of Thailand under H.M. The King’s Patronage, Royal Thai Army Medical Department, and Italian-Thai Development Plc. in the production of ten negative pressure cabinets to be delivered to community hospitals in the upcountry for treatment of COVID-19 patients and protection of medical staff and non-COVID patients in nearby areas against infection with the virus.Preparation and handover of 1,400 relief bags containing rice, dried foods, medical supplies, and virus preventive supplies, which are purchased from the Bank’s clients and charitable organizations for handover to low-income earners through Friends in Need (of “PA”) Volunteers Foundation, Thai Red Cross, etc. “Since the COVID-19 outbreak, EXIM Thailand has focused on administering and managing the organization in respect of both work process and work environment so that we can offer services to our clients and parties in contact uninterruptedly and with social responsibility alongside assisting and relieving impact on our clients, exporters and investors in line with EXIM Thailand’s mission. Our assistance is also extended to the community and the society through our public and private alliance network. This aims to ensure that all sectors in the society can weather this contagion situation,” added Mr. Pisit.
