While the nation is hunkered down at home, Massey University’s College of Creative Arts and Weta Workshop from New Zealand are calling on talented Thai high school students to get creative and join an “EARTH GUARDIANS Character Design Competition”
Good news for all young Thai students who have dreamed of becoming young creative artist designers. With news reports from the Education New Zealand announced that Massey University in association with Weta Workshop are offering an opportunity for Thai High School students (aged 15-19 years as at July 6, 2020) to participate and showcase their creative ideas with other international students in EARTH GUARDIANS Charter Design Competition.
Massey University is one of New Zealand’s eight universities which ranked in the top 100 QS ranking by subject area for art and design. Their College of Creative Arts has partnered with Weta Workshop and other industry sponsors to launch a new concept design competition called Earth Guardians, to celebrate the launch of the University’s new Concept Design Major.
An online competition, during the global lockdown from COVID-19 pandemic, required the students to create a character to defend the earth, using nature and the elements to inspire your designs.
Characters can be submitted as digital images, scanned drawings, paintings or high-quality photographs of 3D models. Entry Submissions must include the name of your character, a 300-word description of the inspiration behind your character, their living environment and any special powers or tools they use. Each individual may submit a maximum of 2 entries, which must be 2 different characters. The winner from high schools in Thailand are eligible for Wacom 16" Cintiq Pen Display, a nice piece of hardware for an aspiring digital artist Entries open from April 6 and close on July 1, 2020, and the finalists will be announced on Friday 14 August 2020.
