SCB appoints new First Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Bangkok--4 Jun--Siam Commercial Bank Siam Commercial Bank has appointed Mr. Manop Sangiambut as First Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective from 15 June 2020 onwards. With the new position, Mr. Manop will play a key role in developing business direction and strategy and effective financial discipline management to propel SCB toward its goal of becoming Thailand’s “Most Admired Bank” in the midst of significant economic challenges in this 'new normal’ age. Mr. Manop brings a wealth of over twenty years of experience in finance, banking, and international investment, especially in the China market. Since 2012 he has spearheaded the development of regional banking platforms for SCB, especially in China, Myanmar, and Cambodia. SCB’s China Business team has contributed greatly to the development of Sino-Thai business and investment, by providing cross-border banking services, managing fintech investment and collaboration, and setting up e-commerce services to promote Thai products. Under his leadership SCB has been the only Thai bank to be awarded “Best Local Bank in ASEAN for Belt & Road Award” by Asia Money for three consecutive years in 2017-19 and “Best Belt & Road Bank for Thailand Award” by Finance Asia in 2018. Prior to assuming SCB’s top financial post, Mr. Manop was entrusted with steering the China Business Function as First Executive Vice President. Before joining SCB Mr. Manop served as Head of China A-share Research at CLSA Shanghai/Hong Kong, responsible for managing their China equity market investment research team. Prior to that, he worked at the Thai Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for state-owned enterprise development policies. Mr. Manop earned his MBA in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University (USA) under a Royal Thai Government scholarship and a BA in Accounting Information Systems from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand). He is a certified public accountant (Thailand) and was a part-time lecturer at Chulalongkorn University and Fudan University (Shanghai). In 2018, Mr. Manop was awarded “Thai Government Scholar Rising Star Award” by the Royal Thai Government.
