SET Foundation grants the 2019 Good Deeds Commendation Award in drug prevention category Bangkok--14 Aug--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand Foundation (SET Foundation) together with Duang Prateep Foundation this year bestowed the annual Good Deeds Commendation Award in Preventing and Solving Drug Problems in Community and Society category to outstanding social workers Siriporn Pomwong who applies art and music to create jobs and values to youths in Klong Toey community, and Sunchai Yamsun who creates activities to keep children and youths away from drugs and gambling, as role models in doing good deeds for the benefit of the Thai society. SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul, as the SET Foundation’s Member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer, said that the SET Foundation has been promoting outstanding good citizens in seven categories for 13 consecutive years. We recognize organizations and individuals who dedicate their efforts to make greater impact on the society in a sustainable manner. Siriporn, the project leader of musical sharing named 'Klong Toey Dee Jang’, was awarded the Prateep Ungsongtham Hata award for the year 2019, resulting from more than six consecutive years of her dedication in applying art and music to create jobs for children in Klong Toey area. Sunchai was also granted the award based on his dedication of over 20 years as a committed volunteer who has finally become youth development project leader from a child in Klong Toey community, devoting his lodging and personal time organizing activities that have helped over 1,000 children in the community stay away from drugs and all vices. Prateep Ungsongtham Hata, Founder and Secretary-General of Duang Prateep Foundation, said: “We have nominated two dedicated persons: Siriporn, an energetic woman who has spent over 6 years carrying out activities for socially vulnerable youths who are at risk of entering the vicious cycle; and Sunchai who grew up in a community and constructively think how to help needy children to overcome obstacles as the 2019 award recipients.” “Even though the endeavor of Siriporn and Sunchai is similar to an oasis in a desert, the continuous support, both abstract and concrete, can turn the oasis to abundant resources for seeds to sprout in the future,” Prateep added.
