Volvo Bus is ready to support the Government's policy easing the country

  • Negotiating with the parent firm in Singapore to help the customers in supporting them to come back to their business

Volvo Bus (Thailand) Limited, a subsidiary of Swedish-based Volvo Group and the sole distributor of Volvo Buses in Thailand, has announced its policy to support the Government's plan to ease the country for boosting up tourism with an expectation of generating business to the local tour operators by planning with its parent firm in Singapore to create a promotion campaign to local coach operators who are using Volvo Buses  in their own fleets.

Dechchai Kulkarineetham, Managing Director of Volvo Bus (Thailand), said the company was currently communicating with Volvo Buses Asia Pacific based in Singapore for creating a new promotion campaign launching to the local Volvo Bus Fleet operators helping them to be able to service their customers who were tour operators.

"In practice, buses need the same treatment as other types of automobiles, buses need regular maintenance program.  However, due to the current global pandemic of COVID19, most of the buses are parked for more than a year causing the owners have to re-condition the buses before getting them to be in service and it will require the bus owners to pay more than 200,000 baht each for meeting with the requirement of Volvo World Standard, especially in safety standard.  We are now talking with our parent firm in Singapore to create a promotion package helping our customers come back to the business," said Mr. Dechchai.

Regarding to the Government's policy, the Prayuth Administration is now preparing to ease the country by introducing the sand-box policy, which has been implementing in Phuket for some time, in five major tourist destinations, including Bangkok, Chon Buri, Petch Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan  and Chiang Mai, expected to start from the beginning of October, excepting Bangkok which is expected to start in the middle of October.

Mr. Dechchai said now Volvo Bus had about 300 Volvo Bus Fleet operators in Thailand with total 1,400 of Volvo Buses in service.

"We have never ignored our customers and during the pandemic crisis, we have kept talking with our customers as well and looking for cooperation that we can help them as much as we can. For example, we are trying to search for some equipment to support our customers in boosting sanitary confident while staying in Volvo Bus.  Ozone Generator Set is good example that we convince our customers to consider as it is easy to install in the Volvo Bus protecting passengers and drivers as well as bus hostages," said Mr. Dechchai.
