Bangkok--Mar 25--TAT TDID, Thailand's First Root Certificate Authority launched by TOT and PCC coordination. Ready to render certification service by April 2001. Grand Hyatt Hotel (22 March 2001) : E-Commerce in Thailand takes a great leap to e-Security by allowing enterprises to verify consumers and seller identity through digital certificate issued by a trusted third party. The Telephone Organisation of Thailand (TOT) and Processing Center Company Limited (PCC) announced their cooperations in seting up Thailand's first Root Certificate Authority called 'Thai Digital ID Co.,Ltd. (TDID) establishing and maintaining trusted communications for B2B and B2C levels. With over 100 million Baht investment, TDID aims to be a trusted third party to provide full suite of digital certificate to validate identity and secure online imformation transfer, starting in April 2001. TOT and PCC announced their collaboration in setting up Thai Digital ID to be the first CA in Thailand. PCC's business objective has always been to provide excellent information technology services and solutions to banking and financial industry. Its peoducts and services are inclusive of ATM pool switching, online the major objective in providing digital certificates management and validate business identity and secure online transactions and imformation exchanges between organisations trading through online channel or Internet. By using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology solution from Baltimore technologies-UK, it developed a business security infrastructure for online transactions through communicating parties authentication. The announcement had been witnessed by representatives from Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Commerce and CAT. These major organizations envisioned that establishing a trusted third party-CA organization would pave the road for Thailand's e-security. IT would not only enhance the expansion capability of e-business, but also leverage technology competency to world class standard. TDID focuses its service on Certificate Authority Hosting. This service will be rendered to an organization that needs to provide certification service to endentities. Such organization will provide various types of certificate depend on its poeration policy. such as corporate certificate, individual certificate, server certificate and URL certificate. TDID utilizes a unique process to validate and mange certificate issuance to all authoried users. It offers the highest level of security with 1024-bit encryption. This is to nsure that data is encrypted and only accessed by authorized individuals and organizations. In addition, Digital Certificate is among the most cost-effective solutions for securing e-commerce and protecting networks. In this occasion, TDID has introduced its first CA under its Root, called PCC Digital ID. PCC Digital ID is operated by Processing Center Co.,Ltd. and focuses its certification service to facilitate e-Payment system: ePAY Service. Under cooperation of 6 major banks: Bangkok Bank, Thai Farmers Bank, Thai Military Bank, Bank of Asia, Bank Thai Bank, and Bank of Ayudhaya, PCC will render e-Payment service that allows end-users to make an online inter-bank fund transfer. The online transaction will be secured with digital certificate, used for validating the online identity of a corporate entity or its authorized user. The service will be available by this April.
