Bangkok--Aug 19--SET
A roadshow led by The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and joined by investment experts is heading northeast to Khon Kaen province on Saturday, August 20 and will go to Ubon Ratchathani province in October. Attendees will receive a booklet on energy saving tips, plus two SET pocket books. They will also have a chance to win free satellite dishes to view the Money Channel as well as win a subscription to M&W magazine.
Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, SET Executive Vice President, announced that the roadshow to take place in Khon Kaen this Saturday is the fourth roadshow of 2005. She believes that investors in Khon Kaen and in nearby Northeastern provinces will be interested in attending the roadshow because of all the useful information that will be provided.
Ms. Sopawadee also announced that the stock trading value in Khon Kaen province in H1/2005 ranks second in the region (following Nakorn Ratchasima), and seventh in the country. During the first 6 months of this year, the total turnover in Khon Kaen amounted to THB19.75 bln. (Approx. USD481.67 mln.) or approximately THB3.29 bln. a month.
Currently there are 14 securities firms with branch offices opened in the Northeast. Out of the overall offices in the region, 10 of them are located in Khon Kaen province.
“Total trading turnover in the region in H1/2005 amounted to THB69.27 bln. Although the trading value in the Northeast is not high comparative to other regions we’re confident in its potential and that the situation will improve. The SET will continue to provide greater access to essential information for this region. One response to this need for greater access will be our next roadshow which will also take place in the Northeast. It’ll be held in Ubon Ratchathani in October,” Ms. Sopawadee said.
