The Board of Directors of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited today announced the appointment of Mr.Kan Trakulhoon as the president, effective January 1, 2005
After the Board of Directors of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited approved the tenure completion of Mr. Chumpol NaLamlieng from his position as the President of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited, effective from January 1, 2006, it has assigned the Governance and Nomination Committee to search for an appropriate person to occupy the position. The Board of Director today announced the appointment of Mr. Kan Trakulhoon as the new president of the Siam Cement Public Company Limited, effective January 1, 2006.
In addition, Mr.Kan has been appointed to a new member of the company’s Board of Directors, replacing Mr. Boonsithi Chokwatana, effective August 20, 2005
Moreover, the Board of Directors resolved to approve the tenure completion and appointment of the following individuals from and to the top management positions; Mr. Chaovalit Ekabut has been appointed as President of SCG’s Paper and Packaging Business in place of the tenure completion of Mr. Somboon Chuchawal, and Mr. Cholanat Yanaranop has been appointed as President of SCG’s Petrochemicals Business in place of the tenure completion of Mr. Apiporn Pasawat. The above changes will be effective on November 1, 2005.
Mr. Kan Trakulhoon, 50, is new-generation SCG executive with visionary of leadership. His management emphasized on the Total Quality Management of the organization and driving force SCG to an innovative organization.
Mr. Kan has pursued his successes in leading SCG’s businesses including managing to establish a large petrochemical manufacturing in Asia when he was Executive Vice President of PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemeical Indotama, Indonesia, a joint venture of SCG and a leading petrochemical company in Indonesia, Pertamina Ltd.
In addition, during his management as the President of Cementhai Ceramics Co., Ltd., Mr. Kan led the company to recover from the world economic crisis in 1997, and brings back growth and good operating profit to SCG in long term. He has turned ceramics business from commodity products into fashionable products that provide higher profit to the company.
Furthermore, he used to take the position of the Vice President of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited, taking care of financial, investment plan, and human resource management.
Mr. Kan graduated with first-class honors in B.E. (Electrical) from Chulalongkorn University, and M.S. (Ceramic) and M.S. (Management) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He also earned the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Harvard University, USA.
Mr. Kan has joined SCG since graduated. His current position is Executive Vice President of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited.
