Almost 2,000 students from 83 Thai academic institutions are competing in the National Business Games for over THB800,000 worth of prizes. The winning team will also receive a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The first round of competition took place in Bangkok on October 15 — 16, 2005.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) President Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong reported that the SET’s Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), in conjunction with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP) and Chulalongkorn University, are jointly hosting the “National Business Game” to provide students with hands-on business experience. The application period ended on September 30. There are a total of 369 teams or 1,845 students participating.
OSMEP Director Ms. Chitraporn Tejajan said, “OSMEP is pleased to play a role in promoting the entrepreneurial spirit among the new generation. Participation in the business simulation game will provide a useful experience for all involved. The game will utilize actual business data, as well as provide economic, industry and social conditions close to those found in reality.”
Assoc. Prof. Achara Chandrachai, Ph.D., Head of the Dept. of Commerce, Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University, said, “The faculty has designed the business simulation program so students can learn and practice their business skills in a virtual business environment. The game will also introduce to the students business ethics and the need for social responsibility. Consequently, participants will learn to take into account all related issues whenever they do business.”

October 15 — 16, 2005: Bangkok qualifying round
October 17 — 18, 2005: Central region (excl. Bangkok) qualifying round
October 21— 22, 2005: Northern region qualifying round
October 21 - 22, 2005: Northeastern region qualifying round
October 25 — 26, 2005: Southern region qualifying round
October 29 - 30, 2005: Final round
Prizes for final qualifiers are:
- Grand prize: THB50,000 cash prize and a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
- First runner-up: THB30,000 cash prize
- Second runner-up: THB20,000 cash prize
- Third runner-up: THB10,000 cash prize
- Prize for Outstanding Presentation and Business Analysis: THB10,000 cash prize
- Special prizes from Thailand Securities Institute: THB25,000 worth of CISA Level 1 training and examination to 25 members of the five awarded teams. The prizes are worth THB625,000 in total.
- The top qualifying team from each region’s will receive THB10,000 in cash End.
