Bangkok--Dec 14--SET
The Thailand Securities Depository Co. Ltd. (TSD) announced today that the TSD, in conjunction with The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and “Put Your Money to Work Through Mutual Funds” Project, would co-host the “Last Chance for Tax Reduction Via RMF-LTF” Fair around the theme “Tax-Free Area” on Sat. Dec. 17 and Sun. Dec. 18, 2005, at the SET Building, between 10:00 — 19:00 hrs.
Currently there are a total of 88 long-term equity funds (LTF) and retirement mutual funds (RMF). This fair will be a great opportunity for visitors to gain information from all 18 asset management firms.
This year’s event will be a ‘one-stop shop’ for visitors, for in addition to the wide selection of LTF-RMFs available at the fair, visitors can also consult with experts about investing in these funds or about tax savings.
Investments in LTFs or RMFs are tax-deductible provided the investment is no more than either 15% of a person’s total income or THB300,000. Furthermore, after having invested in these funds for more than 5 years, capital gains derived from them will also be tax-free.
Chairman of the Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC), Mr. Adisorn Sermchaiwong, who represents the AIMC’s “Put Your Money to Work Through Mutual Funds” Project, noted that, “The total size of the LTFs and RMFs was approximately THB24 billion. As there have been 8 new funds launched in 2005 alone, this Fair will be a great opportunity for people to learn more and keep abreast of new funds. Investors should study the fund policies best suited to their investment objectives.”
The highlight of the Fair is its tax-free assessment service, where fair visitors can learn the optimum amount of investment to maximize their tax benefits.
There will be several seminar sessions offered on Dec. 17 — 18, including “Don’t Be the Last to Know about LTF & RMF”, “Tips for Investing in LTF/RMF”, “Retirement Planning”, “How to Minimize Your Taxes”, “Reducing Tax, Boosting Savings”, “Importance of Tax Planning”, “Reduce Your Tax This Year, Gain Profits Next Year”, “Smart Tax Planning”, “Investing and Gaining from LTF/RMF”, “LTF/RMF Investment Strategies”, “How to Be Healthy Investors”, and “Give 1, Get 2 Tax Promotion Scheme”.
